We’ve reached a major point in history where many women have more choices and opportunities than they ever did. Women decide who to love, what jobs to pursue, if and when to have children and so much more.
First and foremost, I’m marching to make sure none of those rights are taken away—and for the women where opportunities are limited to work towards change to make sure there is equal pay, access to abortions, jobs, education, etc.
I’m marching to stop all violence on women and children (and all people). I’m marching to stop the shaming and judgements of women’s bodies that objectify all humans and hurts girls and women’s self-esteem and self worth.
I’m marching because it feels good to take action, to be heard, to take a stand for something that matters deeply to me. These are aspects of our male energies which are essential and beneficial to the cause and reaching our goals in life—this march is a beautiful example of feminine and masculine principles working together to create something powerful.
I’m marching to call attention and to bring the best of feminine principles to our lives—the deep connection we have with nature, our planet, all beings, animals, spirit and our soul. This is essential for coming into harmony with our lives and protecting the planet from further devastations.
We need both male principles and feminine principles, woven together like DNA, to transform ourselves and what is happening globally.
Feminine principles are rooted in caring for others, no matter who they are, feeling connected to something greater than you, no matter what religion or beliefs you have, nurturing the complexities of human experiences, lessons learned over and over in a spiral dance, accepting the messiness of reality, trusting life’s cycles from birth, growing, letting go and dying.
For the past year, I’ve been on the Heroine’s Journey Road Trip and Quest touring the United States in our motorhome which we’ve lovingly named Gaia (which means Mother Earth).
I’ve been lecturing about the heroine’s journey, feminine principles and sharing my adventurous spiritual memoir, My Journey Through War and Peace: Explorations of a Young Filmmaker, Feminist and Spiritual Seeker, the first book of the Heroine’s Journey series, at bookstores and libraries around the country.
During this time, I’ve seen women struggle with trying to do it all—losing touch with their soul, intuition, and well being. But now the political message (sent by the election of Donald Trump) means there is an urgency to integrate both the inward (feminine principles) and outward (male principles), and create a paradigm shift to transform our personal lives so we have the energy and clarity to stand and work together to make a better world for our children, our families and ourselves.
This campaign, The Women’s March on Washington, has the energies of both the feminine and the male principles to make a difference. I call this vision of integrating both energies The Heroine’s Journey.
And so, on the first day of this New Year, I invite you to join me in Washington on January 21st so we can march arm-in-arm. If you plan to attend, please let me know by commenting below.
I also invite you to dive deeper into the Heroine’s Journey and the feminine principles that are crucial for our healing and evolution right now. I’ve bundled my coloring book, memoirs, workbooks and 1:1 coaching slots to help support any woman interested in diving into these practices. 10% of proceeds will go directly to supporting the Women’s March.

Best wishes for the New Year and hope to see you on January 21st,
Melissa Burch
